This is the first protected area that was created in Costa Rica. So one of the important aspects of the Cabo Blanco Protected Area is its history.

Cabo Blanco contains a dry tropical forest in transition to a humid tropical forest. In total, 140 species of trees have been identified, as well as a rich general biodiversity.

With its white sand beaches, the Cabo Blanco Protected Area attracts people by its beauty. Within its marine ambience, it is possible to observe a great quantity of seabirds, fish, crabs, and many other species.

We work to protect this area. We do maintenance of trails and installations, repair of the roads, and cleaning. We support  the officials responsible for the area. Volunteers also work in visitor service, and watch and care for the area. They participate with rangers in operations to prevent illicit environmental activities.

ASVO is a non-governmental, self-managed and non-profit organization created by volunteers. The funding of the Association comes exclusively from donations and revenue from the international volunteer programs.
