The main objective of this unit is to generate knowledge about the ecosystems related to protected areas to contribute with the conservation process.

It is and interdisciplinary group with a lot of biologists of different fields as well as many other people with the wish to support the generation of knowledge to improve the management practice of the Costa Rican protected areas.

Some of our activities are:
Quick biodiversity evaluations, like the one we did at Playa Hermosa – Punta Mala. In that specific project the analysis included: Birds, reptiles, mammals, mollusks, amphibious, crustaceans and macro fungi.  In this same site we helped as well with the turtle conservation project.

This conservation perspective it is very important for a country like Costa Rica since we have 5% of the world’s biodiversity in less than 0.1% of the global territory. So it is our responsibility to learn about what we have and how we can take care of it.

If you ever wanted to experience being a biologist or any related scientist this is your opportunity. We are waiting for you!!!
