ASVO has agreements with two Spanish academies: CRLA and ILERI. Please find more information below.

Why CRLA?
The Costa Rican Language Academy (CRLA) is a private institution specializing in Spanish language instruction. Since 1989, more than 15,000 students from all over the world have studied at CRLA.

CRLA is one of the few schools in Costa Rica completely owned and staffed by Costa Ricans, therefore ensuring a genuine cultural experience. Our immersion programs provide students with the opportunity to experience the language and culture of Costa Rica first-hand.

  • Formal classes consist of 4 hours of Spanish instruction daily, 5 days a week. From the beginning, students are taught exclusively in Spanish through the Total Immersion Method.

  • Upon completion of the course each student presents a Final Project in Spanish and receives a diploma.

  • Associated with the formal Spanish Language programs offered by our Institutes the students will have a cultural experience by participating in the homestay program, this means that they will live with Costa Rican people so that they can practice Spanish daily with their families in an informal setting while simultaneously experiencing the culture more thoroughly.

  • In addition, CRLA offers School-sponsored extracurricular activities such as dance lessons, horseback riding, movies in Spanish, tours to San José, local museums and theaters visits.

  • Costa Rica’s natural beauty is worldwide known so feel welcome to see it and please help us in our conservation effort!.

Why ILERI?

ASVO and ILERI made a strategic alliance, in which the ASVO volunteers
learn Spanish, as well enjoy the Costa Rican culture. This opportunity
will further the quality of the experience in the national parks,
since most of the park rangers do not speak English.

ILERI Language Institute was founded in Escazú, Costa Rica in 1992. In
1994 we opened a branch in Altos del Chase, Panama City. The school is
run by two professional women with degrees in both International
Relations and Spanish as a Second Language. The owners and directors
are Ana Leonor Ramírez and Marianela Valverde (Panama director).

We are pleased to take this opportunity to introduce to you The
Language Institute ILERI.

Formal classes consist of 4 hours of Spanish instruction daily, 5 days
a week. From the beginning, students are taught exclusively in Spanish
through the Total Immersion Method.

Upon completion of the course each student presents a Final Project in
Spanish and receives a diploma.

Associated with the formal Spanish Language programs offered by our
Institutes are "homestays", during which students live with local
families. After classes, students have the opportunity to practice
Spanish daily with their families in and informal setting while
simultaneously experiencing the culture more thoroughly.

In addition, Costa Rica ILERI offers School-sponsored extracurricular
activities such as dance lessons, movies in Spanish, city tours to
Escazú and San José, and tours to the local museums and theaters.
Similarly, ILERI Panama City offers tours to the Panama Canal, movies
in Spanish, walking tours, and visits to places of interest such as
theaters, museums and National Forests.
