ASVO and CRLA made a strategic alliance, in which the ASVO volunteers learn Spanish, as well enjoy the Costa Rican culture. This opportunity will further the quality of the experience in the national parks, since most of the park rangers do not speak English.

The lessons apart from having basic Spanish vocabulary and grammar will include some information about conservation and Costa Rican wildlife. Join us with this full package and enjoy the beauty of our natural resources and our people!

Why CRLA:
CRLA was founded in San José, Costa Rica in 1989, by two professional women with degrees in International Relations and Spanish as a Second Language. The owners and directors are Cristina Soto and Laura Cordero.

Welcome to this new experience and please read the details:
  • Formal classes consist of 4 hours of Spanish instruction daily, 5 days a week. From the beginning, students are taught exclusively in Spanish through the Total Immersion Method.

  • Upon completion of the course each student presents a Final Project in Spanish and receives a diploma.

  • Associated with the formal Spanish Language programs offered by our Institutes the students will have a cultural experience by participating in the homestay program, this means that they will live with Costa Rican people so that they can practice Spanish daily with their families in an informal setting while simultaneously experiencing the culture more thoroughly.

  • In addition, CRLA offers School-sponsored extracurricular activities such as dance lessons, horseback riding, movies in Spanish, tours to San José, local museums and theaters visits.

  • Costa Rica’s natural beauty is worldwide known so feel welcome to see it and please help us in our conservation effort!.
